Bloom Where God Has Planted You – Part 4

IWM Devotional: Bloom Where God Has Planted You – Part 4: Joseph — Faithful When Life Feels Unfair

Scripture: “But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy.” — Genesis 39:21

Word for Today

There are times when life doesn’t just feel quiet, it feels unfair. When you did the right thing, kept your heart clean, stayed obedient, and still found yourself misunderstood, overlooked, or mistreated. Joseph knew that place well.

He was faithful in his father’s house, yet sold by his brothers. Faithful in Potiphar’s house, yet falsely accused. Faithful in prison, yet forgotten by those he helped. At every turn, Joseph did not lose his character, even when he lost his comfort.

But this is one truth Joseph’s story reminds us of, faithfulness does not exempt us from hardship, but it anchors us through it.

It would have been easy for Joseph to grow bitter, easy to stop caring, easy to believe that God had abandoned him. But instead, God’s Word makes something clear to us—the Lord was with Joseph. Not after the trial. Not once things improved. But in the middle of the injustice.

As Daughters of the king, there will be times when we walk uprightly and still suffer. When obedience doesn’t bring immediate relief, when our integrity costs us more than it seems to reward us. But God is watching how we steward our hearts in those moments.

Joseph didn’t let unfair treatment shape his identity. He let God do that. And because he remained faithful in places he didn’t choose, God eventually placed him where only God could.

What feels like delay is often development. What feels like loss is often protection. And what feels like injustice is never invisible to God.

You may not be able to control how others treat you, but you can choose how you respond. Stay faithful, Soft. Stay anchored in God. He is working even when it doesn’t look fair.

Here's a reflection for us today. How are you guarding your heart and remaining faithful in a season that feels unjust?

Prayer

My Lord, My Father,
You see every unfair moment, every silent struggle, every tear that no one else notices.
Help me to remain faithful even when life feels unjust.
Guard my heart from bitterness and strengthen me to walk with integrity.
Remind me that You are with me, even here.
I trust You to redeem what feels broken.
In Jesus name, Amen.
