Authority Determines Where You Invest
IWM Devotional: Authority Determines Where You Invest
Scripture: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”—Matthew 28:18
Word for Today
We invest wisely based on who holds authority. Jesus does not suggest authority; He declares total ownership. If all authority belongs to Him, then every resource we steward already belongs to His Kingdom.
Kingdom investment flows from lordship. When Christ is truly Lord, our finances, gifts, careers, and influence naturally align with His mission. We don’t invest to earn authority; we invest because He already reigns.
Misplaced authority leads to misplaced investment. When fear or self sits on the throne, we allocate our resources toward temporary security and personal gain. But when Jesus is acknowledged as King, our priorities turn. We begin asking different questions—not “What benefits me most?” but “What advances His rule and reflects His heart?”
Jesus’ authority is not oppressive; it is trustworthy. Because He reigns over heaven and earth, nothing given to Him is wasted. Every act of obedience, every sacrifice, every seed sown into His purposes is governed by a King who sees fully and rewards faithfully. Kingdom investment is not risky; it is responsive.
Personal Reflection
What voice currently carries the most authority in your decisions? Where might the Lord be inviting you to realign your investments—time, finances, gifting, or influence, under His rule?
Prayer
Jesus, You are Lord over all. I yield every area of my life to Your authority. Teach me to steward what is Yours with wisdom, courage, and faith, so my life reflects Your Kingdom. Amen
