IWM Devotional: Growing in Love, Living in Truth

Scripture:“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” – Ephesians 4:15

Word for Today

As believers, growth is intentional. Ephesians 4:15 invites us to a kind of spiritual adulthood that is both simple and challenging, we are called to speak the truth in love, to live it, and to let it shape everything about us.

Think about it this way, our words, our actions, our habits, they are all part of how we “show” Christ to the world. But not every habit, not every thought or reaction, belongs in a life led by Him. Some patterns are borrowed from the world, from old ways of thinking, from fear or pride. And the verse gently reminds us, those don’t need to have a home in us.

Now, please i don't want you to see this as perfection. It’s not about pretending we have it all together. It’s about trying. It’s about choosing love in the small, everyday moments, even when it’s inconvenient. It’s about speaking truth, not harshly, not out of anger, but truth that builds up, heals, and reflects Christ.

When we enfold ourselves in love, toward God, toward others, and yes, even toward ourselves, we create space to grow. Growth here is maturity,  the ability to act and speak with integrity, to let Christ’s character shine through the ordinary rhythms of our days.

So today, consider your words, your thoughts, your daily habits. Which of them reflect Christ? Which are keeping you from growing fully into His likeness? Take small steps. Speak truth in love. Live truth in love. And watch as, over time, the life you cultivate becomes a reflection of the One who is the head of it all, Jesus Christ.

 
Prayer

Lord, help me live and speak in love today. Guide my words, shape my habits, and help me grow into the fullness of Christ. Let my life reflect Your truth, even in the smallest moments, and teach me to walk in love with intention. Amen.
