Prayer for Marriages
IWM Devotion: Prayer for Marriages
Scripture: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” — Genesis 2:24
Word for Today
Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God. From the very beginning in Book of Genesis, we see God establish marriage as a divine union.
Marriage is not merely a contract, it is a spiritual covenant that reflects Christ’s love for the Church, as written in Ephesians 5:25,”Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.”
God’s design for marriage includes unity, love, faithfulness, forgiveness, partnership, and spiritual growth. However, marriages face challenges — misunderstandings, financial pressures, parenting stress, spiritual dryness, and external influences. That is why prayer is essential.
Prayer invites God into the center of the marriage. It softens hearts, restores peace, rebuilds intimacy, and strengthens commitment.
Today, we’re turning our hearts toward 10 intentional prayers for marriages. I invite you to lean in, whether you are already married or preparing for that beautiful covenant in the future
1. Father, we commit marriages into Your hands; be the foundation and center of every home.
2. Father, unite husbands and wives in love, understanding, and purpose.
3. Father, remove every spirit of division, pride, and misunderstanding from marriages.
4. Father, restore love, respect, and genuine friendship between spouses.
5. Father, teach husbands to love and wives to honor according to Your Word in Ephesians 5.
6. Father, heal every wounded heart and restore broken communication in marriages.
7. Father, protect marriages from temptation, infidelity, and every outside influence.
8. Father, release financial wisdom, stability, and provision into every home.
9. Father, fill every marriage with peace, joy, and emotional intimacy.
10. Father, strengthen covenant commitment; let no marriage represented here end in separation or divorce.
Prayer
Lord, we declare that marriages will thrive, grow, and glorify You. What You have joined together, let no one separate. Amen.
