Vision Determines Return
IWM Devotion: Vision Determines Return
Scripture: “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.”
— Matthew 6:23
Word for Today
Jesus makes it clear: how you see determines how you live. Vision is not just about sight, it’s about perception. And perception decides direction. When our vision is clear, our investments follow the light.
When it’s distorted, we pour ourselves into things that slowly dim us. A clouded eye always leads to misplaced investment. When vision is shaped by greed, we chase accumulation instead of purpose. When it’s shaped by fear, we play it safe and call it wisdom. When it’s shaped by comparison, we invest to compete instead of to obey.
And without realizing it, we begin giving our time, energy, and resources to things that darken rather than develop the soul. Jesus wasn’t warning us about blindness—He was warning us about misalignment. Where your eye goes, your life follows. What you focus on quietly decides what you fund with your obedience.
Kingdom vision asks different questions: Does this draw me closer to God or distract me from Him? Does this reflect heaven’s values or feed my ego? Does this carry light—or just attention?
Clear vision leads to clean investment.
It guards us from pouring holy oil into empty pursuits. When God heals our vision, He also redeems our return. What once felt draining becomes fruitful, what once produced darkness begins to produce light. Because when your eye is fixed on the Kingdom, your life begins to yield Kingdom results.
Personal Reflection
Ask the Holy Spirit gently:
- What has been shaping my focus lately—fear, comparison, ambition, or truth?
- Are there places where my vision has become clouded or divided?
- Am I investing in what brings light—or what simply draws attention?
God does not condemn unclear vision; He heals it.
Prayer
Jesus, Please cleanse my vision. Remove anything that distorts how I see You, myself, or my purpose. Guard my heart from comparison, greed, and fear. Teach me to fix my eyes on Your Kingdom so my life produces light. Align my focus so my investments bear fruit that lasts. Amen.
