Word for Today
There are some days a lot of women understand too well… the kind of days when the house is quiet, but your mind is full of noise. Your heart is heavy with worries you don’t even say out loud. Days when you’re carrying so much, but no one really sees it. Days when you’re being strong for everyone else, but deep down, you just wish someone could be strong for you too.
Maybe you’re raising children, showing up for your family, trying to build something for yourself, healing from something painful, or just doing your best to get through the day without falling apart. And in moments like that, it can honestly feel like you’re doing life all by yourself. Trust me, some of us truly understand that feeling.
But one of the most tender names of God whispers a different truth, Jehovah Shammah. Meaning The Lord is there. This name appears at the conclusion of Ezekiel’s vision of the restored Jerusalem. He describes a future restored city where God's presence permanently dwells with His people.
There’s a song I really love by a pastor and minister I deeply respect, Pastor Nathaniel Bassey. My own pastor loves singing it too, and it goes like this, "Jehovah Shammah, I see You everywhere. Blessed Redeemer, Your glory fills the Earth. Everlasting Father, the One who watches me. I put my confidence alone in Jehovah Shammah".
And yes, He is there. Dear Woman, He is there in your kitchen while you prepare meals. He is there in your car while you sit quietly before starting the day. He is there when tears fall at night and no one else notices. You may feel unseen by the world, but you are never unseen by God. Sometimes we imagine that we have to reach a certain level of holiness, strength, or perfection before God draws close. But Jehovah Shammah tells us something different. God does not wait for perfect moments to come near. He comes near in the ordinary. He is present in the laundry baskets, the school runs, the office meetings, the silent prayers, and the quiet sighs of a tired heart.
His presence is something He lovingly gives. To that woman carrying much, maybe you are carrying worries about your children, navigating a difficult marriage or relationship, or maybe you feel the pressure of expectations that never seem to end. Some days you may wonder if anyone truly understands the weight you carry. Jehovah Shammah reminds you this morning, "I understands." And He is with you. He is not watching from a distance. He walks beside you in every step, every decision, every uncertainty. When your strength feels small, His presence becomes your strength.
Today, I'm not here to write plenty, but to let you know this powerful truth. Because sometimes the most comforting truth is also the simplest one. Right now, wherever you are reading this, God is there. He is present in this moment. He sees the woman you are. He sees the woman you are becoming. He sees your quiet faithfulness in the little things. And guess what, He delights in you. You do not have to invite Him from far away. Jehovah Shammah means He is already there.
Please, know this, when your day feels overwhelming, pause for a moment and breathe. Then remind your heart, God is here, God is with me, God sees me.
You are not walking through life alone. Wherever you go, whatever you face, whatever season you are in, Jehovah Shammah. The Lord is there. Matthew 28:20, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
And that includes right beside you.

Prayer
Dear Lord, Thank You for being Jehovah Shammah, the God who is always present. When I feel alone or overwhelmed, remind my heart that You are near. Help me to find peace in Your presence and strength in Your love. Walk with me through every moment of this day. Amen.
God is not distant from His people. His presence brings peace, protection, and guidance.
