Walking in Authority at Home
IWM Devotion: Walking in Authority at Home
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:3–5, "We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture."

Word for Today
Woman of God, let’s go deeper today. It is one thing to know you have authority. It is another thing to walk in it at home. I believe Authority begins in your house. And let me say this here, Do not allow culture to dictate your children’s future.
Culture shifts. Trends change. Voices grow louder. But God’s Word does not move.
If you don’t disciple your children, culture will. And when I say disciple, I’m not just talking about punishment or correction. We as mothers, especially African mothers, you understand this one hahaha, we know how to handle that part very well. But that’s not what I mean. I’m talking about intentionally shaping their hearts. Teaching them God’s truth. Modeling character. Training their spirit, not just correcting their behavior. Because if we don’t deliberately pour into them, the world will gladly do it for us. If you don’t define their identity, the world will attempt to. If you don’t guard their minds, media will gladly shape them.
Walking in authority means you do not surrender your home to whatever is trending. It means you pray over your children intentionally. It means you speak life over them consistently. It means you correct, guide, and you disciple them boldly.
Is your child sick? Stand up and pray with authority. Is your child struggling to read or falling behind in school? Don’t just panic, declare clarity, focus, and wisdom over their mind. Is your teenage or adult child behaving strangely, withdrawn, rebellious, or confused? Do not collapse in fear. Stand up. You have authority. And this is not about control, but a spiritual responsibility.
You are not fighting your child, you are fighting for them. "And your weapons are not carnal, we use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:3&5 MSG (Paraphrased)
You tear down strongholds in prayer. You cancel destructive patterns in the spirit. You speak identity where confusion tries to settle. And Proverbs 22:6 is not passive. “Train up” requires intention. It requires courage. It requires consistency.
Authority means you do not partner with fear. You partner with faith. You do not say, “Well, this generation is just like that.” You say, “Because we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, we will be saved, I and my household.” Your home is not at the mercy of culture. It is under the covering of Christ.
And this month, you are not just knowing that. You are walking in it.
Prayer
Father, thank You for entrusting me with my children and my home. I refuse to let culture shape what You have called me to steward. Give me courage to lead, wisdom to train, and boldness to pray with authority. Every attack against my children’s health, mind, identity, and future is broken. My home belongs to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Now, sisters declare boldly. And let March know who you are.
