Word for Today
There have been seasons in our lives when our passion for God feels strong and alive. We pray, we study, we worship, and everything feels so fresh and exciting. But if we’re being honest, there are also times when that fire feels low. Yes, you still love God, but the passion isn’t the same. Prayer now feel like a routine, studying the Word feels like a task, not because God has changed, but because, somehow, the fire needs to be stirred again.
We must know this, that spiritual passion doesn’t just stay alive on its own, it has to be renewed. Life can get really busy I know. Responsibilities, distractions, challenges, and even disappointments can slowly drain our spiritual energy. Sometimes it’s not even obvious, and that’s the truth. It just happens little by little. You miss one prayer time, then another. You get distracted. You get tired. And before you know it, the fire isn’t burning like it used to.
But here’s the good news today, you can get it back. God has not moved away from you. He is still right there, waiting for you with open arms. I want you to know, the same presence you felt before is still available. The same joy, the same hunger, the same fire. And it can be renewed. Renewing your spiritual passion starts with a decision, a simple, honest decision, “Lord, I want more of You again.”
It doesn’t have to be complicated. Go back to the basics. Start talking to God again, honestly, not perfectly. Open your Bible, not out of pressure, but with a desire to hear Him. Worship, not because you feel like it, or you were told to, but because He deserves it.
Passion grows where there is consistency. Even when you don’t feel it at first, keep showing up. Little by little, the fire will begin to come back. That hunger will definitely returns. That desire will grow stronger again. Our environment also matters a lot. It may seem like a small thing, but it actually has a big effect on your spiritual life. The things around you can either help you grow or slowly damage your spiritual life.
Think about the things you listen to. Do you spend time listening to sermons that help you grow, do you spend time worshiping and praising God, are you really giving time to things that help you grow spiritually?. Also think about the people you spend time with and the things you focus on. These things can either build your passion for God or slowly drain it.
Dear friend, if you want your passion for God to grow again, you need to feed your spirit with the right things. It’s not as hard as we sometimes think. It simply takes giving God your time. Just like you give time to your studies or work, give time to God, even more if you can. And remember, your walk with God is a relationship, not a performance. Before going further, I want you to understand this, i believe when one truly loves God, they will naturally want to spend time with Him.
God is not asking you to be perfect. He is looking at your heart. No relationship can grow without care and effort. If one person is always trying while the other keeps holding back, the relationship will slowly lose its strength. And no relationship can survive if someone only shows up when they need something.
Today, if you feel like your fire has gone low, don’t feel condemned. Just return. God is always ready to receive you. This is your encouragement today, stir it up again. 2 Timothy 1:6, “Fan into flame the gift of God”. Take time today, even if it’s just a few minutes. Pray, worship and be still. Talk to God and let Him refresh your heart.
You can burn again dear woman, you can be hungry for God again. And You can feel that closeness again. And I pray for us that as we return to our altar, as we seek God more, may you find Him, may His grace be restored unto you. And we come against every spirit of lukewarmness. Amen
Prayer
Lord, I come back to You with my whole heart. Renew my passion for You. Stir up my hunger, my desire, and my love for Your presence. Help me to stay consistent and draw closer to You every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
