Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Walking by faith and not by sight is one of those truths that sounds simple when you hear it, but becomes very real when life stops making sense. It is easy to say “I trust God” when things are clear, when plans are working, when doors are opening on time. But faith is not really tested in clarity. It is tested in confusion.

That is why Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” In other words, faith is not waiting until you see it before you believe it. Faith is holding on to what God said even when there is nothing visible supporting it yet.

And that is where the real tension begins, because human nature wants proof first. We want confirmation. We want something we can touch, measure, or explain. But faith asks you to move before the picture is complete.

That is why 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” It does not say we occasionally walk by faith. It says this is the walk. This is the lifestyle. This is the daily direction. Not led by what is seen, but led by what is believed.

And honestly, this is where many people struggle. What you see can feel more real than what God said. Delays start talking. Circumstances start speaking. Lack starts creating pressure. And if you are not grounded, what you see begins to challenge what you believe.

But faith is not denial of reality. It is trust in a higher reality. It is not pretending things are fine when they are not. It is choosing to believe that what God said still stands, even when current conditions are not yet matching it.

There is a reason God often does not show the full picture at once. If everything was visible from the beginning, faith would no longer be needed. But God grows people through trust. Step by step. Moment by moment. Sometimes without full explanation.

And in those seasons, you begin to learn what it means to lean. Not lean on understanding. Not lean on timing. Not lean on what people are saying. But lean on God Himself. Proverbs 3:5-6 adds, and it says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” 

That “lean not” is not a suggestion. It is a warning. Because your own understanding can feel right and still lead you wrong when it is not aligned with God. Walking by faith also means you will sometimes move without full certainty. Not recklessness, but obedience. There will be moments where God is not giving you the full map, just the next step. And that is uncomfortable for the mind, but powerful for the spirit.

Because faith is built in motion. As you move, clarity increases. As you obey, understanding grows. But if you wait for everything to make sense before you move, you may never move at all. That is why faith often feels like walking in layers of trust. You trust Him with the outcome. You trust Him with the timing. You trust Him even when your emotions are not fully aligned yet.

And over time, something switches inside you. You will stop needing everything to be visible before you feel secure. You begin to rest in what God has said more than what your eyes are showing. Sisters, God’s word becomes more reliable to you than your current situation. And that is the real growth.

Because sight changes. But God does not. And faith is learning to live like that is true, even in real time.

Let’s bow our head and pray. I’d like us to take a quiet moment to center our hearts on God.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to walk by faith and not by sight. 
Even when I don’t understand, help me to trust You.
When things feel uncertain, anchor my heart in Your promises. Lead me step by step, and help me follow without fear.

As we close, remember this, faith isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about trusting the One who does.
