Feeding Your Spirit with Worship
IWM Devotion: Feeding Your Spirit with Worship
Key Scripture: John 4:23-24, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Word For Today
Worship is not just a song, it goes beyond that. And a lot of us are spiritually malnourished because we only worship when the music is good, when the church is lit, or when life feels good. But worship was never meant to be a Sunday event. It was meant to be your spirit’s daily bread also.
Worship is how your spirit breathes and in John 4:23-24, The Father is seeking worshipers but not performers, not even perfect people. Worshipers. Why? Because worship is where your spirit connects to His Spirit. It’s where heaven invades your atmosphere. Psalm 22:3 says “He inhabits the praises of His people.” That means when you worship, God moves in. You don’t have to beg Him to show up. Worship builds Him a throne in your room, your car, your kitchen.
Your atmosphere changes when you worship, and worship sincerely. Acts 16:25-26, Paul and Silas were beaten, in prison, in chains. Midnight. And what did they do? “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and suddenly there was a great earthquake.” Worship broke their chains before their situation changed. Some of us are in a midnight season. In chains, pain, and you’ve been crying, complaining, scrolling. But what if your breakthrough is locked in your worship? What if the chains won’t break until the song comes out of your mouth?
2 Chronicles 20:22 says, “As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the enemy.” They won the war with worship. Your flesh wants to worry. Worship says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul.” (Psalm 103:1). Your flesh wants to compare, but worship is saying, “You alone are worthy.” (Revelation 4:11). Your flesh wants to quit, worship says, “I will bless the Lord at all times.” (Psalm 34:1).
You can’t stay depressed and worship at the same time. You can’t stay in fear and magnify God at the same time. Worship turns your focus from how big your problem is to how big your God is. And your spirit gets full. So beloved, make worship your lifestyle, not your playlist. Like i mentioned earlier, Worship isn’t just slow songs. It’s obedience, it’s surrender, it’s waking up and saying, “Lord, I give You this day.” It’s whispering “Hallelujah” in traffic. It’s choosing to thank Him when you feel like complaining. Romans 12:1 calls it “your true and proper worship”, offering your body as a living sacrifice.
Sister, as a woman, as a mother, and a believer, you don’t have time to live with a dry spirit. When you worship, you’re not just singing. You’re warring, you’re healing and you’re filling up. You’re raising your children in an atmosphere where demons can not dwell. I pray He helps us understand this.
Prayer
Holy Spirit, teach me to worship in spirit and in truth. When I’m weak, let worship be my strength. When I’m in chains, let worship be my breakthrough. When I’m in the kitchen, in the car, in the chaos, inhabit my praise. Let my home be filled with songs, not sighs. Let my life be an altar where worship never stops.
Beloved, before you drop your phone now, worship with one song. with your yes closed, and hands lifted. Just feed your spirit first. And i pray for you, that you will experience His Presence.
