Surrendering Control to God Daily
IWM DEVOTION: Surrendering Control to God Daily
Key Scripture: Proverbs 3:6, “In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Word For Today
To be honest, when was the last time you went to bed with your brain still running? Or what is that thing you need to give answers and reply to, the bill that’s due, the fear about your child’s future, you can’t tell anyone. Today, let’s talk about what happens when we stop gripping the wheel so tightly and start surrendering control to God daily.
Surrendering control means admitting that God sees what you don’t, and trusting Him with what you can’t control. We try to control people, outcomes, timing, and our reputation. But control is a trick. The only thing we truly manage is our response.
Jesus modeled this daily. In the Garden, He said, “Not my will, but Yours be done” Luke 22:42. That’s surrender, that’s not giving up. But giving over.
When we truly surrender control to God daily, we trade anxiety for peace, not just that, but we also make room for His direction, not relying on our own wisdom. And then we find the strength we don’t have when we surrender to God.
Surrender is daily because life is daily. Every morning you get up, let this be your first prayer, "Lord, today is Yours. I trust You with my plans, my family, and my day. Please take control." And that’s what surrender to God is. We need to let God lead and guide us, instead of trying to sort things out and each day by ourselves.
Prayer
Lord, I relinquish control today. I submit to Your will, Your way, Your timing.
